Overview 1 day seminar to teach owners and their dogs the behaviours required for film and TV work. The day will include a 'test' at the end and suitable dogs may be given the opportunity to be added to www.dalysdogs.co.uk and put forward for film and TV work. This is not obligatory and the day is equally suitable for people who simply want to spend a day working with their dog. Attendees will need to bring a selection of treats and toys and something to encourage their dog to settle eg a crate / blanket.
Who the seminars are suitable for... One dog and one owner teams, it is not possible for people to work multiple dogs. Maximum of 10 dogs and their handlers, 4 minimum. Dogs must be sociable enough with other dogs and people to work in close proximity to others. Basic training is required but I can work with a range of abilities in one class as I split the attendees into ability groups. Spectator places are usually available.
If you are interested in hosting a seminar, please see 'hosting a seminar' below.
TV and FIlm masterclasses are run by www.dog-and-bone.co.uk as well as a number of other organisations throughout the year.
I am available for 1 day Film and TV Masterclass workshops throughout the UK.
Requirements Indoor area with enough space for half the group to sit on chairs around the edge and the other half to be in the middle of the floor working their dogs at up to 6 feet away. I can take up to 10 working handlers and dogs and unlimited spectators. Please see the 'suitable for' section above to ensure the attendees are suitable for the course. An outdoor area is nice but not required. An area may be required for me to set up a couple of small tables with www.naturallyhappydogs.com and/or www.dog-and-bone.co.uk products. I require at least one person from the organisation / venue as a helper to help set the venue up, organise things during the day and assist with note taking during the test section. This person will not be able to work a dog. I may be able to find someone suitable myself for this role if necessary. As long as the venue is large enough, unlimited spectator spaces can be sold alongside working positions. I give a short 20 minute presentation at the start of the day, during this time it's often best for dogs to be left in vehicles or crates if suitable so owners can concentrate. I use a projector and screen for this and can supply my own if required.
Times The seminars run from 10am to 5pm with a 1 hour lunch break. Weekdays are preferred.
Remuneration Please contact me for my daily rate. I require accommodation the night before if the venue is more than 60 minute journey from Royston, Hertfordshire, plus 45p per mile from Royston travel expenses. I am happy to stay with a host family and there is a possibility I might need to bring my own dogs, although they can stay in my vehicle during the day. Occasionally I may also bring my own helper with me and would be happy to share a room with them.
